Personal Care

Supporting Confidence in Everyday Self-Care

The Personal Care program supports participants in rebuilding confidence in the everyday routines that contribute to wellbeing, health and self-esteem.

During periods of mental health difficulty, simple self-care activities can sometimes become harder to maintain. This program provides a supportive and respectful environment where participants can explore ways to re-establish personal routines that support both physical and emotional wellbeing.

The focus is always on small steps, encouragement and personal choice.

What the Program Offers

Participants are supported to explore and strengthen everyday self-care routines such as:

  • Maintaining personal hygiene routines

  • Establishing healthy daily habits

  • Looking after personal appearance and wellbeing

  • Building confidence in preparing for the day ahead

  • Developing routines that support overall health

Sessions are relaxed and supportive, allowing participants to talk openly, share ideas and learn from one another.

Building Confidence Through Routine

Establishing regular self-care routines can help people feel more organised, confident and prepared for daily life.

Participants are encouraged to explore what works best for them, with guidance from Sunflower House staff and peer support workers who understand the recovery journey.

Respect, Privacy and Personal Choice

Personal Care sessions are always delivered in a respectful and non-judgemental environment.

Participants choose how much they wish to engage, and everyone is supported to move forward at their own pace and comfort level.

Supporting Wellbeing and Independence

Self-care is an important part of recovery and can play a role in improving confidence, wellbeing and independence.

The Personal Care program provides a supportive space where participants can rebuild routines and strengthen the foundations for everyday living.
