Pathways to Volunteering & Work
Exploring Purpose, Skills and New Opportunities
The Pathways to Volunteering & Work program supports participants who are interested in exploring volunteering, training or employment opportunities as part of their recovery journey.
For many people, meaningful activity such as volunteering or work can help restore confidence, routine and a sense of purpose. This program provides a supportive space where participants can begin thinking about what the next step might look like for them.
There is no pressure and no fixed timeline. Everyone moves forward at their own pace.
What the Program Offers
Participants are supported to explore:
Personal strengths, interests and abilities
Opportunities for volunteering in the community
Building confidence in workplace and social skills
Pathways to education, training or employment
Setting personal goals for the future
The program focuses on helping participants identify possibilities and take small steps toward meaningful activity.
Building Confidence for the Future
Returning to volunteering or work can sometimes feel overwhelming after a period of mental health difficulty.
Through supportive discussions and practical guidance, participants can gradually build confidence and explore what opportunities may feel right for them.
A Supportive Approach
Participants are supported by Sunflower House staff and peer support workers, who understand that each person’s journey toward volunteering or employment will be different.
The focus is always on encouragement, choice and personal readiness.
Moving Forward at Your Own Pace
Volunteering or work can be a positive step toward rebuilding independence, confidence and connection with the wider community.
The Pathways to Volunteering & Work program helps participants explore these possibilities while feeling supported, encouraged and respected throughout the process.
